Workshop Description:

You will be learning how to make a mug cup and a plate by learning the slab-building technique. It will be all level class and welcome to anyone who is interested in ceramics.

The pieces we make in the workshop will be glazed and fired by CALMPLEX and your precious pieces will be ready to pick up in about a month (4 weeks). 

You can pick up the finished pieces at Jewell House. *We will send you a notification once it's ready for pickup.

Instructor: CALMPLEX /Saerom and Ayumi

CALMPLEX is a new studio opening up in our neighborhood. The instructor Saerom is the owner of this curated artisan space includes a ceramic studio, tea house, restaurant and shops. The cohesive concept all together is to help enhance the energy of life to the community with a calming and comfortable atmosphere.

CALMPLEX is filled with Saerum's warm memories and her dream of creating a space like home to everyone. She has explored her true inspiration during the pandemic after working for a graphic design firm for a long period of time. She realized that she wanted to create her own work with her own hand, following her parent's love of arts and crafts.

While she stayed in Korea for almost a year during pandemic, she had an opportunity to learn pottery from a master from a prestigious ceramic family, the aesthetics of Korean traditional pottery. Saerum wishes to bring the tradition to NYC through CALMPLEX the COMMUNITY of comfort.
